MSP Squared | October 26, 2026

Over the weekend I participated in the American Society of Media Photographers MSP squared event - although briefly. The event is 75 photographers who each get assigned a single square area of the city where they must photograph, edit and submit a total of five photos in a 24 hour window. I had square 18 that included part of the Stone Arch Bridge and St. Anthony main as well as part of the University of Minnesota. A great square to get assigned that has lots of great street potential.

Unfortunately, life has been really busy lately. Between normal weekend parent things, kids soccer and a school fundraiser that day I was very short on time. I only got to really focus on the project for 2 out of the 24 hours. I never got into my flow then ended up with nothing that I was really happy with. Two hours to snap, edit and submit turned out to be a bit too rushed for me.

Anyway, I had a nice time walking around part of the U and St Anthony Main to catch fall colors in their prime in the end. I was happy to be out in the sunshine and walking along the river with the beautiful leaves that come this time of year. I hope that next year I can commit more time to the project and come away with something that I'm proud of.
